NEW ZEALAND: EXPLORING THE NORTH ISLAND

Well hello there! Long time no see eh?

After so much time planning our dream trip to New Zealand and Australia and finally jetting off in December 2018, it’s crazy to be back in the UK, digesting it all. I’m still slightly shell-shocked at how much we’ve done and what an incredible experience it’s been and I wanted to write down in more detail what we got up to, in case any of you are thinking of doing something similar and so I have a place to relive the memories in detail. For ease of reading, I’ll be breaking the trip down into three parts, New Zealand, Sydney and Queensland. I have decided to only include key parts as quite honestly, this post would go on for ages!

K West Hotel & Spa, London

For those of us who live outside the capital, aside from for business purposes, visits to London for pleasure tend to be around two or three times a year. So, when it came to planning Matt’s birthday last week, I decided a trip to London was much overdue!

We are fortunate enough to live just under an hour away by train but very rarely do we actually stay for a couple of nights to enable us to really make the most of what London has to offer. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that actually staying in London can be seriously expensive and as it was a special occasion, I wanted something more than a Travel Lodge or Premier Inn.

The low down: April 2018

This week, I’ve decided to try a little something new. Meet ‘the low down’, which is essentially a mash-up of favourites and a monthly diary. I’m always finding that there are odd little bits I want to talk about but simply don’t warrant a whole blog post. Similarly, I don’t always love enough things for a favourites, so the low down is born from me wanting somewhere to store all that loveliness.

Booking our dream holiday

dream holiday

Travelling has always been a big part of Matt and mines relationship since the very beginning. We’re both desperate to see as much of the world as possible, especially while we can. Over the years, there have always been two places we’ve talked about time and time again. A few years back, our focus was on buying a house together and that meant our dream holiday wasn’t feasible due to the sheer amount of money it would cost. But back in Februarywe finally booked our flights to New Zealand and Australia!

Our first airbnb experience

Like most people, Matt and I like to get away as often as we can. Not just abroad but in the UK too. We like unwinding in spas, spending the week taking Luna on mammoth walks, curling up in front log fires…  We’re fortunate enough to have a few mini-breaks under our belts now but one thing we hadn’t experienced was an Airbnb. Airbnb is an online marketplace and hospitality service which enables people to rent out accommodation on a short-term basis or of course, to stay in these places.
