Fall in Love with Yankee Candle

It’s safe to say that Summer is over. But you know what, that’s ok! Autumn brings a lot to get excited about. The darker evening may make blog photography hell but let’s not talk about that part eh? Instead let’s focus on the good bits – like coming home straight from work to climb into pjs, snuggling into fluffy blankets with a hot drink and watching all the great TV shows that only seem to come about at Autumn. Oh but don’t forget the candles! A flickering candle adds the finishing touch to your cosy evening, especially when it smells amazing too! So you can see why I got very excited when Yankee Candle sent me their brand new Fall in Love* range. I’m a bit of a Yankee Candle fangirl, even dedicating an entire drawer to them – sorry Matt – so I was excited to see what they had in store this year. I actually reviewed last years range which you can read here.

Autumn Glow

It’s safe to say that, for me, the scent of Autumn Glow completely encompasses what Autumn is. With the lights low, a mug of tea clasped in my hands and Autumn Glow flickering gently, the mood is well and truly set. It’s quite an earthy fragrance generally but it’s actually citrus that hits your first, almost a lingering memory of summer days. Following that, the mid-notes of blossom and fresh cut herbs are what conjures up the memories of stomping through leaves on an autumn walk. I really love the rich chestnut brown colour of the candle and it’s been sitting pride of place on my coffee table, a not so subtle nod to autumn.

Vibrant Saffron

My instinct with Vibrant Saffron was always that it wouldn’t be my favourite of the collection. I was right, but only because saffron is a scent that divides opinion fairly strongly. And being the main note in the candle, it’s clear that this candle is one for all the lovers! Combining star anise and cinnamon leaves you with a generally rather spicy scent although the vanilla bean helps add a softness to the overall experience which pays homage to an Indian Summer. The warm copper colour is a perfect way to inject a flush of Autumn into your home

Warm Cashmere

I loved the idea of warm cashmere but I was still a little perplexed as to how a candle could smell like cashmere. But if anyone could do it – Yankee could! The beige colour of the candle would instantly be at home for someone who likes quite clean-cut interiors or a minimalistic touch and it actually matches the luxurious scent really well. As with any candle, I’d encourage you to let the candle burn for a while so you can appreciate all the fragrance notes and I love the creamy sandalwood, white patchouli and delicate french vanilla in this candle. This is definitely one to light before you have guests visiting for a truly elegant arrival.

Mulberry & Fig Delight

This is definitely one for all of you with a love of a sweeter, more fruiter scent. Inspired by ripe harvest pickings, the fragrance notes are rammed with juicy fruits such as blackberry, peach, plum and apricot. While for me this doesn’t personally sing Autumn – instead I imagine a much more crisper smell –  I can appreciate our associations are entirely personal preference. That’s not to say this isn’t a gorgeous scent either, it is utterly delicious and actually really refreshing after the more woodier fragranced candles.

I really enjoyed reviewing the new Fall in Love range from Yankee Candle. The collection combines the remnants of those summer days with the crisp, earthy aromas of autumn. Do you have a favourite candle you like to bring out now it’s Autumn? Leave me your recommendations in the comments!
