Well hello there September! There was a time when bloggers used to do ‘favourite’ posts monthly, myself included. While I haven’t done one in the some time, this month there were too many lovely things that I wanted to talk about to not do one. August, much like the majority of other months, has absolutely flown by. Living in the UK, it has only very briefly actually felt like Summer but nonetheless, it’s been a good month. I’ve decided to do things a little differently, take a look after the jump…
So last weekend saw a very exciting time – my sister’s wedding! I’d been looking forward to this day for ages as I knew she’d planned some really exciting bits and pieces, plus the food was amazing! I was also asked to be a bridesmaid which was real honour and it was so lovely to have my hair and make-up done and feel, well, pretty. I love going to weddings but it’s even better when you know a lot of people there and are close to the bride and/or groom as it makes everything a whole lot more sentimental. It really was the perfect day with the sun shining, incredible food (look at that cake!) and a lot of love.
Last Sunday saw the final episode of Season 7 of Game of Thrones. And wasn’t it a good one! I came into GOT quite late but when I finally got started, I really got started and binge watched for days. Luckily there are a lot of people who watch the show so I’ve got plenty of people to discuss theories with. While I was disappointed with the first episode of Season 7, the rest of the season made up for it by being utterly compelling with lots of twists and turns, blood and battles. My only concern is with next year being the last season, just how are the producers are going to tie up all those lose ends and unanswered questions in just six episodes? Nonetheless, I’ll be waiting with bated breath.
Ok even I’m surprised to see myself writing these words. This month, I’ve been obsessed with my walking boots. And not just any old walking boots, the Terradora Pulse Mid Waterproof boots* to be exact. I was sent the boots a month ago by KEEN and having been meaning to get myself a pair of walking boots, was excited to put them to the test immediately. So on our next particularly adventurous dog walk, I wriggled into them and quite frankly, didn’t want to take them off. While not the point, I find them really aesthetically pleasing and smart-looking. There are lots of really fantastic features to keep your comfy during your walk like a foam footbed for arch support and to take the pressure off your achilles. The rubber outsole gives you grip on literally all-terrains so you don’t need to change shoes depending on where you’re heading. Better yet, if the weather has been a bit rubbish, the boots are completely waterproof so you don’t beed to worry about getting wet feet, bleughh. They’re lightweight too so walking isn’t made even more tiring by having to stomp around with a pair of bricks on your feet as can so often be the case. Our travel plans next year require a lot of walking and I have never been more glad to have a great quality piece of kit ready to tackle what comes our way.
I wear lipstick every day so when I find a good’un, I do a little happy dance on the inside. This month I was luck to find not just one but two beautiful shades from MAC. They aren’t new by any means, simply ones I had my eye on and finally got round to buying. I’m sure you’ll know Velvet Teddy from being the shade that was really difficult to get hold of last year when someone decided it was ‘the one Kylie Jenner wore.’ I’m not sure if that’s true or not but it’s definitely shot up to my top five. It’s a cool, matte brown that I wasn’t sure I could get away with but is actually incredibly wearable and better yet, it’s not drying either. Faux is another gorgeous colour I picked up, a muted mauve-pink with a satin finish. Semi-matte, Faux is one of those colours that would suit a lot of skin tones and I’m fairly certain is one of MACs most popular shades for that very reason. It is a definite must for your make-up bag.
Chances are, you’ll recognise the lovely necklace below already. This beauty from Missoma has been absolutely everywhere on YouTube and the blogosphere. I’m not normally a jewellery kind of girl generally but I lusted after it for months before one pay day deciding to treat myself and placing an order. Part of the Lucy Williams collection, the 18ct gold pendant sits on a long bobble chain which really adds to the elegance of it. While you can get a smaller version, I much prefer the length of the large horn and where it sits on your chest. On the occasion I did wear jewellery, I would usually opt for silver as gold can bring me out out in a rash but with the pendant being such great quality, there have been no problems whatsoever. At £139, it’s by no means cheap but it’s a really lovely treat or even one to ask for as a present. I’ve also worn mine daily as it goes with literally everything. The only problem is that I now can’t stop myself purusing the website for more necklaces as they happen to look great layered… Uh oh!
While I don’t plan on doing a favourites post every month, I’ve really loved putting this one together for you. August has been a great month for me and I’d love to know what you’ve been loving too!
