When myself and Kat from Laydey Katabella were invited by Boots (for my non-UK based readers, Boots is a huge health and beauty retailer) to discover ‘The Emporium‘ on a Thursday night it’s safe to say we were mystified about what we were actually attending. We were two of a select number of bloggers amongst Boots super-fans invited to the event which made it even more exciting. Immediately upon stepping into the store we were welcomed with glasses of bubbly and raspberry lemonade before heading up the escalator and onto the red carpet!
After being handed our amazing goody bags (more on that later!), we stepped forward into the Emporium. It’s safe to say, neither of us knew where to look. The whole floor felt like it was dedicated to Christmas! And if you’re frowning at me right now, well you shouldn’t because it’s going to be here before you know it! If you are from the UK, you’ll know how Boots are well known for their 3 for 2 on Christmas presents with a fantastic range to choose from. One of the first things Kat and I did was wander through the aisles and ooh and aah over the new products. Zoella fans will find her new range (though you’ll have to move quickly!) while copper enthusiasts are catered for too with some seriously gorgeous goods. And don’t get me started on candles! Yankee Candle, Woodwick…there is a lot to love! As ever, beauty is very prominent at Boots with the usual superstars like Soap & Glory and Benefit taking centre stage while luxury brands like Ted Baker and Champneys came out to play. I genuinely feel like you could happily do all your Christmas shopping in Boots if you really wanted to and come out with presents bound to impress.
In the middle of the floor we discovered one of the main reasons we had been invited that night. Wanting to do something different, Boots decided to introduce personalised engraving which is suitable for the majority of their products, whether it be perfume or lipstick or even the label of your favourite Soap & Glory body butter! It will only cost you £3, regardless of item size, letters or words. There’s also the option of gift wrapping, with three different sized boxes to choose from and to finish off you could add personalised ribbon too. This concept is something they are planning to carry on throughout the year which I was really pleased to hear as I was already planning fantastic Valentine presents and Birthday gifts where personalisation would make such a difference. Altogether, the customisation will be across 88 Boots stores with the Boots at Queensgate being one of the biggest.
My head was whirring with the choice of products I could have engraved but I settled on a No7 lipstick while Kat chose a Yankee Candle for her Mum. It was an incredibly quick and smooth process. You chose where you wanted the engraving before the product was secured into place and the laser aimed at the centre, ready. You then chose the font you wanted before the words are typed into the machine. Obviously the larger the surface area, the more you can words you can put. So mine being small, I just went with ‘Em.’ A few more buttons are pressed and then the lid is closed on the machine before the laser begins to work, engraving your message. It finishes incredibly quickly (so there will be no waiting around) and you then choose a colour to fill the engraving. We went with gold which I definitely think will be a popular option, especially for Christmas! Overall, I was so impressed with the service and still amazed that it is only £3! They had lots of personalised products out on show so you could see the possibilities and a particular favourite was a Real Techniques brush engraved with your initials! I’d definitely recommend checking out if your local store will be hosting the Emporium, there will be lots more information in the coming months!
The Emporium is a lot more than just customisation though. There was also a new beauty section with plenty of tester products you could take out of the packaging and play with before deciding if you wanted to go ahead and purchase, perfect for someone like me who has to swatch before they buy! There will also be experts on hand to provide makeovers, hair styling and make-up tips and assistance for anyone who might be a bit stuck which I think is really great as I think everyone can identify with wandering around and feeling a bit lost.
I had a fantastic time at the event and really enjoyed mooching around, playing with make-up and getting some great ideas for Christmas. I want to say a huge thank you to Boots who were really so welcoming and enthusiastic about us being there. A goody bag is never expected but always a pleasure and the two stuffed bags we were given were filled to the brim with brilliant brands. I’m sure you’ll see some of the products in more detail on Musings & More in the future but I thought I’d let you have a peek at just a few items that were included as well as a final look at my engraved lipstick. Isn’t it gorgeous?
I hope you’ve enjoyed coming along with me and discovering more about the Emporium at Boots. I appreciate a lot of people do feel a bit stubborn about entertaining Christmas so early on but in my eyes, there is nothing wrong with dabbling just a little bit! Have a great week!
