I feel like I haven’t done a favourites for ages and I’ve always enjoyed writing them because they are something I love to read myself. I really like finding new things that I never knew I needed through other blogs! Read on to find out what I’ve been loving throughout the month of May!
First up we have Imperial Leather’s Marshmallow Bath Cream*. I am all for a lush bomb and I love them, but there’s no denying they can make a bit of a mess and when I’m after some relaxing, the last thing I want to be doing is scrubbing glitter off my bath! So when I was sent some Marshmallow Bath Cream to try, I was looking forward to incorporate the Cream into my next bath time. All you need to do is pour a portion of the pastel pink liquid into a running bath and let it works it’s magic! I’m actually already on my second bottle, oops!
I can’t talk about this product without mention the incredible smell! When you sink into the water, the sugary sweet smell engulfs you. Don’t get me wrong, it certainly doesn’t overpower your senses you but I imagine it’s how a candy land would smell, incredibly heavenly! It’s also worth mentioning that this is great as a muscle relaxer, it doesn’t promise that but it’s something Matt pointed out after he’d been for a run and I’d begged him to try the Bath Cream. Overall, this product is perfect for when you want a quick and easy but equally relaxing bath session. Grab a book (maybe the one below), some wine and let yourself be taken away to sweet serenity!
The Magpies by Mark Edwards
“The monsters are not vampires or demons but the people who live next door. It is a nightmare that could happen to anyone.”
You know a book is good when your sat thinking about it for a good ten minutes after you’ve finished it. That was the case when I picked up ‘The Magpies’ by Mark Edwards. The concept is simple but brilliant. Jamie and Kirsty are excited to move into their first home together and start a family. They get to know their other neighbours in their building and all seems well, but soon weird things start to happen and Jamie and Kirsty find themselves targeted by a campaign of terror. I’m going to keep it brief because I really don’t want to give anything away. I’ll just say that it’s a psychological thriller that could (rather scarily) happen to anyone. That’s the fascinating thing, the situation is entirely plausible and I think that’s why I got so invested in the book. I read it in a matter of days and ended up having a conversation with the author Mark on twitter because of my feelings towards the ending. He’s a very talented and interesting man and I’ve since gone on to read about three more of his books. I could not recommend this book more.
Cheerz Photo Album*:
A year or so ago, I decided to start keeping photo albums. I was constantly getting photos printed but not actually doing anything with them. They would just sit there in piles, crying at me! So of that Christmas, I asked for a few photo albums to get me started. I got quite into it at first but then it started to feel like a bit of a chore and I would miss pages and get frustrated. So when Cheerz told me about their brand new photo album, it sounded the perfect solution to my problems! The process is wonderfully simple, you just chose all the photos you want going into the album and you can move them easily around into the order you prefer and if you want some photos bigger than others, etc.
The album is lovely and slim too so it won’t take up much room. It comes in an array of gorgeous shades and you can personalise the front cover with an image and some words on the spine. For ours, I chose a photo of Luna and called it ‘Our Memories.’ The layflat layout means it opens up completely flat so you can really enjoy your photos in all their glory. It also looks just like a book and that’s the whole idea, that your photos and memories tell your story. I really think this is a lovely gift for friends or family or even just for you!
While I love eyeshadows and the many pretty colors, I didn’t actually know how to use them very well. Until this beautiful little palette came into my life. I purchased this little beauty back in January during my birthday trip to New York. Since then, this palette has become such a well used staple in my everyday make up routine. The very helpful little booklet taught me how to create three looks for various occasions and slowly but surely, it all made sense to me. “So that’s why I use a darker shadow in my crease!” Telling you exactly what colour goes where, it really is idiot proof and each individual shade is utterly wonderful, rich in pigmentation with strong lasting power. Being my first Too Faced palette, I’m already eyeing up my next purchase when I next hit America later this month. I fully believe you could get by on this little palette alone for a long time. I certainly have.

Apparently I like making life difficult for myself as this is one favourite I can’t really provide photos for. Damnit. Nonetheless, I’m a massive thriller/horror fan and your more than likely to find me curled up watching one of these with wide eyes rather than weeping over a rom-com. However, because I’ve seen so many, very little of these films actually impress me any more. Until one Saturday night. My friend suggested Hush on Netflix in a group chat on WhatsApp and having little to watch on TV, Matt and I decided to give it ago. I’ll keep the plot simple, a deaf/mute woman who lives alone in the woods finds herself fighting for her life when a masked man appears at her window, intent with killing her. There are very little characters in this and from what I remember, it all happens around the same location: her home, which makes it all the more interesting. It’s fast paced, addictive and while the very nature of a film plot means I really don’t want to give anything away, I’m hard to please with thrillers and this one left me breathless and extremely tense, constantly pawing at Matt: “My heart is racing!” You must watch it. Just don’t watch it alone.
So there we have my May favorites, let me know what you’ve been loving this month in the comments! I could talk about how quickly the month has flown by, but I’m sure I always say that. However it does mean we are creeping closer to Summer and that is surely no bad thing! Bring on the sun!
