Makeup Revolution’s 2nd Birthday Party

13th March 2016

I’ve only been blogging for roughly nine months and I’m always surprised (and grateful!) by the opportunities that have found their way to me. I was particularly excited however when an invite to Make Up Revolution’s 2nd Birthday Party invite dropped into my inbox! I immediately knew I wanted to go. For once, there was plenty of time for me to organise actually getting to London and I happened to be free that evening – perfect.

So one chilly evening, Matt and I hopped onto a train and made our way to London. We’re very fortunate that it’s only a 50 minute journey for us and I find it quite relaxing sitting on a train…when you can get a seat that is! It felt quite strange to be ‘dressed up’ whilst commuting and we did get some funny looks but the dress code had been ‘glamorous’ after all!

The event was taking place at Café de Paris which located a few minutes walk from the Leicester Square tube station. I was really impressed with the location as it was a stunning setting for a party. I’m talking sweeping staircases, chandeliers and even velvet feel walls! From what I know, the place is actually a cabaret venue with dining available too and it’s certainly very well suited for a night of cabaret! To give you an idea, it’s sort of part club, part theatre which I think is what makes it so unique.

There were waiters walking around with canapés and you could help yourself to a variety of drink concoctions. Matt had an ‘I <3 Chocolate’ cocktail which I’m told was very nice and included a whole flake (admittedly, I did snatch this…). My favourite part was probably the chocolate fountain where you could dip a variety of treats from doughnuts to waffles, profiteroles to strawberries and more into silky smooth waves of indulgence.

Makeup Revolution is a brand who I have followed closely since they first hit the beauty scene and it’s difficult not to be impressed by the high quality products with a great price tag. It also helps that they have some brilliant dupes, my favourite of which being the Blushing Hearts for which you can get much more expensive alternatives! So I was really looking forward to seeing what new releases they had up their sleeves for us.
TAM Beauty (who owns Makeup Revolution, Freedom and I<3Makeup) had a few displays out including new products, allowing us all to get up close and personal with the products and take some photos for you all! There was definitely plenty to swoon about, such as the Fortune Favours the Brave Eyeshadow palette, the shimmer bricks and the addition of Chocolate Vice palette which is bound to be a favourite. Even Matt who cares very little about Make Up agreed the packaging was fantastic across the board. The brand really do tick a lot of boxes.

At around 7:30pm, a screen rolled down behind a podium and a hush fell over the room. The Founder and Director, Adam Minto, stepped onto the stage and began a very heartfelt speech. It’s really humbling and inspiring to watch someone who is clearly so passionate about their brand as he is. A short video was shown, illustrating all the achievements in the last two years of Makeup Revolution and they have certainly done well in such a short space of time! Adam then introduced the youtuber Beauty’s Big Sister – Daisie Smith – who unveiled a very exciting competition #IAMFREEDOM for any budding Make up Artists. Taking place in April, 30 entrants will compete through three challenges in a bid to earn themselves a place in the live final in September where they will be in with a chance of winning £1000, a year supply of Freedom products and a one year partnership deal with the brand! For any MUA’s out there, this is most definitely the competition for you!

After the announcements, the party commenced and music was played by Radio 1 DJ, Scott Mills. For my first blogging event, I’ll be surprised if any can top this one as we had such a great time! A really nice touch was the goody bag I collected on our way out and I was seriously impressed with the offerings. I thought I’d give you a sneak peek, as the goody bags at parties were always the one thing I was curious about! I’m really excited to play with the Pro Artist Pad from Freedom Make up – look at how beautiful those shades are! And so many to enjoy!
