When on holiday and especially when somewhere hot, the last thing I want on my skin is thick, heavy foundation. So that is why I began the hunt for the perfect solution. The answer came in this tinted moisturizer from Nars. It is an oil-free formula that offers light coverage and ticked all the right boxes for me. It helps to even out my skin tone by covering blemishes and leaves my face feeling refreshed and hydrated. While you should never go without proper sunscreen in the sun, this tinted moisturizer also contains SPF30 which is a brilliant bonus. This is definitely what I will be reaching for day after day on my holiday.
I only tend to add eye shadow and mascara to my look when we’re going out in the evening. Again, during the day I prefer to use a lot less make up as it isn’t something I really want to be concerning myself with when I’m meant to be relaxing. But in the evening it’s nice to make a bit more effort.
For eye shadow, I’ve just been sweeping on the much talked about Kiko eye shadow sticks. This well known By Terry dupe is ideal for adding a wash of colour across my eyelids and requires very little work except a bit of simple blending. The two colours I just keep coming back to are 05 and 06 which I find to instantly completely change a look. This shimmery, golden-bronze look that both create is just perfect for a summer night, especially in a gorgeous location! As with any eye shadow, I wear Urban Decay Primer Potion underneath to prolong longevity.
The mascara I’ve been reaching for lately is the Maybelline Lash Sensational which as I’m sure you’ve found has been everywhere recently. But there is good reason for this as it’s a fabulous product that allows you to sweep on a jet black coating and lengthen your lashes ridiculously well. It really does hug all of your lashes individually and does not budge all day.
I find myself sticking to nudes or pinks when I’m away as I tend to want something fairly understated and natural looking. This is why Mac’s Crème Cup and number 45 in Kate Moss’s Nude Collection are among my favourite choices. Crème Cup is a cremesheen light blue and pink and number 45 is a blue toned nude. I find that both look classy and effortless which is just what I’m after when I’m away. The last thing I want to spend my time on holiday doing is preening into a mirror, so I like it when I can just pick up a lipstick and apply it simply by feeling where my lips are and knowing I won’t look stupid.
Wherever I am, I will always have an EOS Lip Balm on me. Seriously, they are dotted about everywhere! They are the best thing I have found to keep my lips soft and moisturized at all times and as you can imagine, this can be needed when you’re spending a lot of time out in the sun. I also love that each flavour smells incredible enough to eat, making me actually want to use it and the egg-like packaging is very cute. My favourite has to be strawberry sorbet!
I’d love to know what sorts of things do you keep in your make up bag on holiday?
